RE: Low voltage at the CG...what do you do?

We were at the CG last month, and when I checked the voltage at their connection, I had 125 VAC. I plugged in, and all was pretty much OK, until we had the A/C running. Then, the voltage dropped to about 105-108 VAC at the meter we have in an outlet inside.
A/C seems to be working fine, and I don't have this problem with the genset. I'm sure it's a CG problem. I also notice that the shore cable is getting rather warm at the plug. Would a bad plug cause the voltage drop with a load?
What do you do, when the voltage is a bit lower than you'd like. I know we could (and probably should) cut off the A/C, but my wife has Asthma/COPD, and we can't really just open the windows. I hate to run the genset, and disturb others (though this particular place was about empty).
We liked the site, and while we could probably have moved, I really wonder if there would have been a difference at another site?
Thanks for any help....:C
You answered your own question to a point (the shore cable was getting warm). Check the end of your cable and it appears that it's hasn't been overheated the 30 amp rec was bad or had a bad connection inside the pedestal. A Voltage drop like that is caused buy a bad connection somewhere or undersized wiring feeding the pedestal. If you have a bad cord end please change it because it will ruin the next rec you plug into, it spreads like a virus.
Your A/c will run just fine on 108 volts without any harm to the compressor or blower motor. Everyone I have ever seen had a minimum voltage in the 100 volt range.

RE: HAVE TO ASK

We are in great shape, the price of fuel is going down and that will bring down the price of many other things we use everyday. We jumped out of the market a long time ago and everything is paid for with all the cash in CDs and safe IRAs:B. Our long range plans are working just fine.

RE: Replacing G rated tires with E rated

Not all E rated tires are rated at 3415#. Depends on the size, and brand. In Goodyear for example LT235x85x16 are rated at 3040 while LT265x75x16 are 3450.
LT225X75X16 rate at 2680.
The 265/75/16 tires also take a wider rim because they are a wider tire so you may also end up with to wide a tire and have clearance problems.

RE: Do I need "full time" insurance?

I would never advocate not being properly insured, it is the smart and proper thing to do. But just because you stay longer in your rig than the other guy,I personally do not see the logic in spending more money with the insurance company. Once again, ALWAYS carry the proper insurance.
well stated IMHO.
bumpy
I also agree with the above, we always told our insurance agent what we are doing and every year we go back in and access our insurance needs. Now if you move your residency to another state (license, RV registration) then your house is no longer your residence and you should look at fulltimers insurance. Insurance is one thing that anyone that wants to go fulltime should take a long look at from all sides. Make sure if you move your residency to another state that that all your insurance well follow you, take a good long look at your health coverage. You may change your residency to save a few dimes in one area and end up costing you may $$$ in another.

RE: Do I need "full time" insurance?

We still have a house that we do not rent out but have home owners insurance on it just like we did when we lived in it. So we use that to extend to our RV for any liability coverage we may need, we also have everything with one company.

RE: Faulty Propane Changeover Valve

Where did you obtain the replacement hose and coupler? My Forest River dealer is 100 miles away.
I think you will find that all of the hose and change over valve parts are the same and not brand specific. When my changeover valve went bad I just went to a local Rv repair place a bought a new one.

RE: How long should an AGM Optima Battery last?

We have had 2 blue tops in our trailer for 5 1/2 years without any problems at all. We are fulltimers so they spend most of the time plugged into shore power, our converter floats at 13.6 volts.

RE: doubletree select suites brakes

Even if you end up with disc brakes, your GMC IBC may still work. You will need to try it and, if you have problems, try putting a brake magnet in line with the circuit. The integrated controllers need to "see" the brake magnets to know whether or not they are connected.
This is what a friend of ours did with his HH with disc brakes to make it work on his new GM truck with the new controller.
(the Ford built in controler is a Prodigy built by Takonsha . Not sure who makes GMCs but it will work with drum brakes .)
This is wrong the Ford controller is not a Prodigy its built like a Brakesmart and runs off of brake line pressure. Takonsha may have had some hand in the design but its totally different from the Prodigy.

RE: Black Tank Wash

Somewhere in the trailer there will be a antisiphon valve, ours is under the bathroom sink, you may have to take it apart and see if there is any junk in it or bypass it and see if the flush works. Be sure to put it back in the line after testing.

Go to a place that installs service body's on trucks they normally stacked up looking for homes for them. You may even find one that is the right color.

RE: Reese 15,000 lb hitch has cracks in leg

You ca go to this site http://www.towingproducts.com/catalogpdf/12-parts.pdf and look up your hitch. The legs are listed separately so a new one can be ordered. As far as the damaged one I could very well be as simple as bad piece of steel. I would just order a new leg.

RE: V10 owner question

This is not a fish story this is our average mileage with a V10 over the summer including our trip to Alaska.
Total miles 11165.4 miles
Gallons 1250.14
Cost $5532.15
Average MPG 8.93
All but maybe 300 miles where pulling our trailer and none of that was highway, we gross at 23500lbs. I don't really now mpg highway because I rarely drive empty long enough to now for sure.

RE: V10 owner question

Thank you for the good feed-back. Does anyone know the towing capacity for the V10 with 3.73.
The 3.73, 4.10 and 4.30 gears where offered from 99 to 04 and then the only options was 4.10 and 4.30. If you want a V10 that's ready to pull get one with the 4.30 gears. They will make very little if any in your empty gas mileage. Also the 4.30 where only offered in the F350 99 to 04

RE: Reno parking lot / casino camping.

When we came through Reno last fall and then this spring we didn't stop because of the ban (we found out about it last fall) we just went up the road to more RV friendly place. WE KNOW WHEN WE AREN'T WANTED so we just moved on.

RE: Trail Air or Mor/ryde

We ordered our trailer with the Mor/Ryde RE (rubber equalizer), it replaced our trailer that was 2ft shorter and had the standard suspension and it was like night and day the way it pulled, we could tell right away after leaving the dealers lot. I have a enclosed trailer that had the Dexter IS suspension and it's the best towing trailer I have ever towed but the full IS has one major drawback. When you are on uneven ground the wheel that goes over a lump or hole (or a flat) has no way to transfer the load to the other axle like the equalizer suspension does but it will have a better ride.

RE: Whitehorse to Tok

It's not the greatest but like others have stated just take your time and slow down. There where times that we got passed by every thing but a bike. With our rig 25 to 35 was the best speed for the frost damaged areas and after you get tired of trying to go 55 just to slow down again 45 worked out the best.

As close as the to dollars are to each other should we just use US currency in Canada instead of exchanging it.

RE: Any one using a Ford V10 for TV?

Been pulling with one for 8 years without any problems, no mater what the dealer may try and tell you get the 4.30 rear end, that will solve any low end torque problems.
